Great British Spring Clean - Scadbury Litter Picking Event

The Great British Spring Clean is back for 2023!

The Friends of Scadbury will be running an event - led by Elaine Blewitt - to participate in the national litter picking activity.

We will be joined by the Nordic Walkers - run by Debbie Baxter.

The litter pick will take place on Saturday, April 1st 2023 meeting at the Old Perry Street Car Park at 09:45 am for a 10:00 am start.

Materials provided. Please wear appropriate footwear.

As autumn evenings begin to draw in, we are pleased to be able to offer you an opportunity to observe some nocturnal inhabitants of Scadbury Park.

A free event
Friday 4th October 2019

Meet at Old Perry St. Car Park at 18:00.

Duration – approx. 1½ hours.

Join us as dusk falls and the bats come out to feed.

The walk will be led by Judith John, a local naturalist, who will help us to locate and identify the bats.

It promises to be an exciting and interesting evening.

A great experience for children!

The nature of the event means that numbers will be limited so advance booking is essential.

Full joining information will be sent with the reservation.

Visit the ruined remains of the medieval manor house

  • See excavations in progress

  • Take a self-guided tour of the site

  • Remains of medieval manor house and moat

  • WWII Defences

  • Bookstall & refreshments

The tours start at the point where the estate circular footpath crosses the moated site.

The nearest access from the road is via the footpath between 12 and 14 St Paul’s Wood Hill, turning left along the circular footpath (5 mins walk).

Alternatively walk from the Perry Street entrance (20 mins).

Limited parking is available for elderly or disabled people from Perry Street entrance.

At The Old Chapel, home of The Chislehurst Society, Chislehurst High Street, the executive committee from the Friends of Scadbury Park will be running the annual general meeting.

There will be a talk by Ann Russell about the project exploring the former orchards at Scadbury, which has involved both FOSP and ODAS.

Free refreshments will be provided.
